The show starts off very dark and that had me quite intrigued and it felt quite unpredictable but with each episode the show become a goofy mess.
The first deaths had quite an impact because they were somewhat unpredictable but after a couple of episodes you become well aware that everybody is going to die in the show. For every character that dies, a bunch of new characters show up so the show doesn’t really allow you to get emotionally connected to any of the characters.
The show also suffers from some of the goofiest character design that I’ve ever seen. Halfway through the season we’re introduced to a flamboyant doctor, who has an army of minions that are all failed experiments. When the doctor is being cornered by our ‘heroes’ he combines with his minions to become and even bigger monstrosity.
The show definitely takes a quantity over quality approach and using a lot of execution shots to make up for the crappy fight sequences. The animations just aren’t all that great in general.
There just isn’t any character development that’s worthwhile, the relationships between the characters just have no real substance. Even the relationship between family members just feels really weak.
A lot of shows start quite strong with an interesting concept and then there comes a point where they feel to introduce a plot twist that just ruins the whole experience.
